Our story, short

Three generations have worked this same stretch of red earth. We grow five crops side by side, we pick every one of them by hand, and we never cut a single bunch before someone is waiting for it.

The farm's five crops on a black reflective surface: a sprig of red Robusta coffee cherries, a hand of green matooke, a husked cob of sweet maize, a Smooth Cayenne pineapple and cut lengths of purple sugarcane

Selected harvest

Five crops, grown to outshine the market.

Everything we sell grows within a ten-minute walk of our packing shed. Order one crop, or fill a crate with all five.

01 Coffee

Red-ripe, or it stays on the branch.

Every cherry is picked by hand at full crimson, sun-dried on raised beds for up to three weeks, then hulled to order. Roasters get clean green Robusta. Home brewers get a small-batch medium roast with dark-chocolate depth and a clean finish.

Harvest
Main crop Oct–Jan, fly crop May–Jul
Sold as
Green beans in 5, 25 and 60 kg bags · Medium roast in 500 g and 1 kg

02 Matooke

Cut at dawn. On your stove by dinner.

Heavy bunches of East African Highland banana, cut in the cool of the morning and delivered whole on the stem so every finger stays firm for days. Steam it in banana leaves and mash it soft, the way it has always been done.

Harvest
All year round
Sold as
Whole bunch: medium, large, extra large · By the hand

03 Sweet maize

Milky, tender, made for the charcoal.

Cobs picked while the kernels are still plump and milky, husk left on to lock in the sweetness. Roast them over charcoal or boil them with a pinch of salt. At season's end we dry the rest on the cob and sell clean, sorted grain by the sack.

Harvest
Both rainy seasons
Sold as
Fresh cobs by the dozen · Dried grain in 50 and 100 kg sacks

04 Pineapple

Gold at the base, sweet to the core.

Smooth Cayenne pineapples ripened on the plant until the gold climbs a third of the way up the skin. No forced ripening, no cold store, just fruit that tastes of the field it grew in.

Harvest
All year, peaking Dec–Feb
Sold as
Single fruit · Crate of 12 · Juice-grade by the crate

05 Purple cane

Soft purple cane, cut to your length.

Thin-rind chewing cane that snaps clean and runs with juice. We cut it to length at the shed: full stalks for the market stall, 40 cm pieces for the fridge, bundles for the juice press.

Harvest
All year round
Sold as
Bundle of 10 stalks · Pre-cut 40 cm pieces

Our approach

Grow it slowly. Move it fast.

Four habits we inherited from the people who worked this land before us, and refuse to drop.

  1. A farmer's hands pressing red earth around a newly planted banana sucker in warm afternoon light
    01

    Feed the soil first

Every block rests between crops and gets our own compost of banana stems, coffee husk and cane trash before a single new plant goes into the ground.

  2. A grower picking ripe red coffee cherries from the branch into a woven basket
    02

    Pick by hand, at peak

No stripping, no shaking. Each cherry, cob and bunch is judged by eye and picked only when it is ready.

  3. A Ugandan woman in a gomesi carrying a freshly cut bunch of matooke balanced on her head along a red-earth path at golden hour
    03

Out of the sun by noon

The harvest leaves the field on foot along the red paths and reaches the shade of the packing shed before the midday heat.

  4. Farm workers packing pineapples, sweet maize and green matooke into a timber crate in the open-sided packing shed
    04

    Crate it to breathe

Graded by hand, packed in open timber crates and loaded the same morning. No plastic, no bruising, no waiting.

The farm

Three generations on the same red earth.

One family, one farm, five crops. No brokers, no pooled produce from strangers' fields. Everything in your crate grew here.

“The first coffee on this hill went in three generations ago. We still pick it the way we were taught: one red cherry at a time.”
